Hei Matau (Fish Hook): A symbol of prosperity, abundance and good health. It also represents power or strength, authority, and respect for the sea and the life within it. It is also believed to provide good luck and safety while traveling over water.
Koru (Spiral): Represents new life and rejuvenation, also new beginnings and hope. Can also represent awakening, personal growth and peace.
Manaia: Spiritual guardian protecting wearer from evil. Traditionally with the head of a bird, body of a man & tail of a fish, creating balance of sky, earth & sea.
The type of pounamu used in this piece is Kahurangi.
