Fernand Léger was a French painter filmmaker, and sculptor who was born in 1881. This image is of a screenprint of an image that Léger created in 1919. Experiences as a WW1 soldier sparked his ‘mechanical period’ of work, which was characterised by the use of machine-like forms.
