This poster is based on a chromolithograph (drawing on stone) by William Shaw Diedrich Schmidt and first printed by Brett Printing Coy, Auckland, New Zealand. The birds in Schmidt's work are, for the most part, based on the artwork of J.G Keulemans which feature in Walter Buller's A History of the Birds of New Zealand.
