As part of our celebration of Matariki, we are highlighting our incredible Māori suppliers and creators, starting with a new addition to the whānau - Noa Blankets.

A truly homegrown story, these taonga start life in Tauranga, where founders Whakaawa and Josh Te Kani are based. The process continues in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, where the New Zealand wool is is processed into yarn.

Lastly, the weaving takes place in Tāmaki Makaurau, where a fantastic relationship with the production partners there ensures the stunning custom designs receive the attention to detail they need. They are also accredited with the highly prestigious Toitū Envirocare Mark, in keeping with Noa's ethos of care for our environment.

Wakaawa believes their role here is “To courageously share our nation's stories, inclusive of all cultures and ethnicities.”

They strive to: “remain unique in our cultural capacity and continue to connect to our ancestral concepts, bringing them into our everyday existence. Subtle design that draws from our identity, encouraging others to do the same. Each piece is an art with it’s whakapapa rooted deep in our culture to be shared with the world.”
