Designed by Isaac Te Awa, Curator Mātauranga Māori at Te Papa, each piece blends traditional Māori design with contemporary style, featuring three meaningful tukutuku patterns: Kaokao, Pātiki, and Poutama.
Pātiki Vest
Inspired by the flounder fish, the Pātiki pattern is a powerful symbol of abundance and prosperity. It represents the ability to provide for one's community and support for whānau (family), hapū (sub-tribes), and iwi (tribes).
